Head coach Ruben Selles hailed the impact of his substitutes after Hull City were denied a late winner against West Bromwich Albion in a 1-1 draw.

Kasey Palmer and Abu Kamara combined for the equaliser after coming off the bench for the Tigers.

Lincoln Henrique then went close to nabbing a potential winning goal, but was thwarted by Baggies keeper Joe Wildsmith.

The home side held on, despite a late charge from the Yorkshire side, and afterwards Selles hailed his side’s performance in the second half.

Competitive

He said: “In the first half they (West Brom) were really good and we had difficulty holding them.

“But from the start of the second half, we were better and competitive, although we conceded a goal from the corner.

“With the substitutions, we changed the dynamic of the game.

“We scored one goal and could have scored a second; we showed we had come for the three points.

“We made the game about us as we got better and better.

Revelation

“We proved – as we have done in a lot of games – that we are as competitive as anybody.

“I am happy because of that performance – the team is starting to look solid.”

Selles’ Tigers extended their good form with a point against play-off hopefuls West Brom.

Hull have now only lost one of their last seven matches and have seen victories in three of their last six.

The Spanish manager has been a revelation since joining the club in January.

He has guided the relegation-threatened Tigers three points clear of the drop zone into 19th place with just eight league games to go.
