Delighted Coventry City boss Frank Lampard hailed striker Haji Wright after his hat-trick against Sunderland boosted their Championship play-off prospects.

The Sky Blues had briefly dropped out of the playoff places, but climbed to fifth with their 3-0 success against the Black Cats.

USA international Wright had last scored in Coventry’s trip to Sunderland in November, but picked up an ankle injury in the same game that left him on the sidelines for the best part of four months.

“Three goals, a constant problem, great quality finishing and great movement,” said Lampard of Wright.

“He won headers and went physically toe-to-toe with defenders and his work ethic off the ball was great.

“Haji has a laid back way, but he wasn’t laid back on the pitch today.”

Leaders Leeds United fought back from 2-0 down to earn a draw at Queens Park Rangers, while Burnley moved second with a 2-0 victory at Swansea City.
