LEEDS United U21s kicked off their campaign in the new National League Cup with a thrilling 4-3 win at Boston United on Tuesday night.
Luca Thomas scored twice, including an 85th-minute winner.
West Brom U21s earned a creditable 2-2 draw at Ebbsfleet in their opening group match. The hosts won the resulting penalty shoot-out 5-4 to pick up an extra point.
Stoke U21s went down 2-1 at Oldham, while Middlesbrough U21s lost 1-0 at Gateshead.
The competition pits National League clubs against Premier League and EFL Under-21 sides.
