EFL pay tribute to voice of game ‘Motty’

The EFL – and the football family – have paid homage to legendary commentator John Motson after his death at the age of 77 on Thursday.
Popularly known as ‘Motty’, he had an incredible 50-year career with the BBC. He covered ten World Cups, ten European Championships and 29 FA Cup finals for BBC Sport before retiring from the organisation in 2018.
To many, he was simply the voice of football through the decades and the affection in which he was held was clear to see as tributes poured in after his death.
The EFL described him as ‘a defining voice of English football’.
