George Maris and Davis Keillor-Dunn netted in the second half as the second-placed Stags moved to within two points of the leaders with two games in hand.
Third-placed Wrexham also closed to two points behind Stockport by thrashing Barrow, in fourth, 4-1. Steven Fletcher led the way with a hat-trick.
