AS A critic of Barnsley’s recruitment strategy in recent seasons, it is only fair to redress the balance.
Whilst far from perfect and guilty of making errors, the Tykes’ American owners implemented a strategy and stuck to its principles – if not the specifics – regardless of results on the pitch.
The result is a youthful team that is vastly outperforming expectations who, if sold today, would fetch transfer fees far in excess of what was paid.
