COVENTRY have suffered a blow with the news that goalkeeper Oliver Dovin could be sidelined for the rest of the year.

The London-born Sweden international was stretchered off during the first half of last Friday’s 3-1defeat at Sheffield United and will undergo surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 22-year-old was signed from Swedish side Hammarby last summer and has made 30 appearances in all competitions.

“We are really disappointed for him,” said Sky Blues boss Frank Lampard. “He has got, as we feared, an ACL injury which ends his season. He is going to have surgery.

“He has had an incredible season personally and the strides he’s taken since we’ve been here, making the Sweden squad, makes it slightly more bitter because he’s been doing so well.

“He is disappointed, particularly in the moments after the injury, as is normal. He should understand how far he has come and it’s an unfortunate thing for us and we all support him.”

● Blackburn have announced that defender Dom Hyam will remain contracted to the club beyond this season.

A clause in his contract, which he signed when he joined Rovers from Coventry in 2022, has now been activated, keeping him at Ewood Park until June 2026.

The 29-year-old has made 125 appearances in Rovers colours and was crowned the club’s Player of the Year in his first season.
