Ian Holloway says he wants to “rebuild” Swindon Town after signing a new long-term deal with the League Two club.

The Robins were just three points above the relegation zone when the former Blackpool, Crystal Palace and Queens Park Rangers boss replaced Mark Kennedy in October.

But 12 wins from Holloway’s opening 29 games in all competitions changed the picture and they went into this weekend’s fixtures on a ten-game unbeaten run.

That has convinced the club’s owner, Clem Morfuni, to offer the 62-year-old a deal until the end of the 2027-28 season, with a brief to help end the former Premier League outfit’s continual struggles at the wrong end of the EFL.

Delighted

“I’m absolutely delighted to have signed a new contract at the club,” said Holloway, who had spent almost four years out of work before joining the Robins.

“Everything has connected me with the club since I arrived in October – the area, the community and the fanbase that we have.

“This club is much more than a project – it’s the rebuilding of a club.

“That’s how I look at it, and I’m honoured to be trusted with that.”

In a joint-statement with CEO Anthony Hall, Morfuni added: “We’re delighted to announce a new long-term contract of Ian Holloway on a three-year deal until June 2028.

“Ian has revitalised the squad since his arrival back in October and moved the team in the correct direction.

“We acknowledge that our start to the season left us in an extremely difficult position, even when Ian took over.

“However, the progress we’ve made in the short term under his leadership proves that he is the correct manager to long-term build our future with.”
