LIKE most people, I was very surprised to see Mark Bonner go back to Cambridge United as director of football.
He’s a sought after coach with good experience and a strong CV. He comes across well in the media.
Despite being sacked by Gillingham, I don’t think he’d have struggled to get another job in management.
Maybe he just fancied a change, but it’s a big risk for him and for the club because it’s not a job you can just walk into.
