Wycombe stretch unbeaten to run 18 in Bolton draw

Wycombe stretch

Wycombe made it 18 league games unbeaten but failed to score for the first time in 25 League One matches as they drew 0-0 at home to Bolton.

The Trotters began the better of the two sides as Aaron Collins tried his luck on two occasions in the opening 15 minutes.

His first attempt was parried away by Franco Ravizzoli whilst his second flew over the crossbar.

Ian Evatt’s team enjoyed a lot of the ball in the opening exchanges before Wycombe began to get into the contest around the midway point of the first half.

Tyreeq Bakinson, who was deputising for the absent Aaron Morley saw a fierce strike get deflected out for a corner, before his header from the resulting set piece was caught by Nathan Baxter.

Moments later, the Chairboys had their best chance of the opening period.

Fred Onyedimna did brilliantly to beat two players on the right as he made a darting run into the box.

He laid it off to Cameron Humphreys who really should have shot, but he decided to tee up Beryly Lubala, and the Congolese forward had it nipped away from him at the last second by ex-Wanderer Randell Williams.

The second period saw Wycombe be right in Bolton’s faces as Humphreys and Richard Kone went close, but were wide of the target.

A huge goalmouth scramble occurred with 20 minutes remaining as Jasper Pattenden, Luke Leahy, Kone and Bakinson went close again but to no avail.

Down the other end, George Thomason’s free-kick hit the side netting whilst Szabolcs Schon forced Ravizzoli into a good save.
