IT was Dutch legend Johan Cruyff who said that results without quality are boring. Increasingly, it seems football fans agree.
Preston’s Ryan Lowe became the first managerial casualty of the season on Monday, but the 45-year-old’s resignation had nothing to do with results.
In two full seasons at the helm, Lowe won 38 percent of his games and recorded consecutive top-half finishes. That’s well above par for a team with one of the Championship’s more modest budgets.
