Bristol Rovers are on a poor run ahead of hosting Cambridge United at the Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, with just four points collected from their last six games.

The Gas have picked up one win and one draw in their last six League One games, and face a Cambridge side whose last six games have brought two wins and one draw.

In the last 10 years, Rovers and Cambridge have played each other on six occasions. Rovers won five of them and Cambridge one.

On average, the Gas scored 2.2 goals and Cambridge 1.0 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on August 19, when Cambridge won 2-0 at home.

In Chris Martin, Rovers have one of the league’s sharpest shooters so far this season. He has notched 15 goals in 33 appearances, to sit fifth in the scoring charts.

His goal rate of one every 164 minutes is slightly quicker than that of Gassan Ahadme Yahyai, Cambridge’s top scorer with a goal every 171 minutes, and a total of 10 goals in 25 games.

United are 18th in the table after 42 games, of which they have won 12 and drawn 10, earning 46 points.

The Gas are two places ahead of the visitors in 16th, with 15 wins and nine draws putting them on 54 points.

With 38 goals in 42 games so far this season, Cambridge are scoring at below the league average rate with 0.9 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 58 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

The home team are also below average scorers, with 1.2 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 1.5 goals per game.

Rovers’ last match was on Saturday, a 3-1 win against Cheltenham Town, with Brandon Aguilera, Elkan Baggott and Scott Sinclair getting the goals for the Gas.

Cambridge drew 1-1 with Charlton Athletic last time out, also on Saturday, with Macauley Bonne on the scoresheet.

Tuesday’s match will be refereed by Daniel Middleton, who has taken charge of 10 League One games so far this season, issuing three red cards and booking 35 players. He has awarded three penalties.

He is yet to oversee a match featuring either Rovers or Cambridge this season.
