Match Preview: Lincoln City v Shrewsbury Town (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

Lincoln City face Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday seeking to protect their formidable unbeaten run in League One.

The Imps are unbeaten in eight, with four wins and four draws, ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off.

They face a Shrewsbury team who have won two and drawn two over the same number of games.

With Lukas Jensen between the sticks, Lincoln can rely on one of the league’s safest pair of hands. He has kept 13 clean sheets in his 34 appearances this season, and only one other ‘keeper – Portsmouth’s Will Norris – has been able to prevent the opposition scoring on more occasions in League One.

In Shrewsbury’s net, Marko Maroši has eight clean sheets in 33 games. He has conceded a goal every 78 minutes, 40% more often than the 106 minutes between goals for Jensen.

In the last 10 years, Lincoln and Shrewsbury have played each other on 12 occasions. Lincoln won five of them, Shrewsbury three, and they drew four times.

On average, the Imps scored 1.0 goal and the Shrews 0.8 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on August 19, when Lincoln won 1-0 away.

Town are 19th in the table after 34 games, of which they have won 11 and drawn five, earning 38 points.

City are eight places ahead of the Shrews in 11th, with 12 wins and 12 draws putting them on 48 points.

With 26 goals in 34 games so far this season, the visitors are the league’s joint-second-lowest scorers with 0.8 goals per game. And they are conceding more than average, letting in 46 goals at a rate of 1.4 per game.

The Imps are also below average scorers, with 1.1 goals per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 0.9 goals per game.

Lincoln’s last match was on Saturday, a 2-0 win against Port Vale, with Joseph Taylor and Recco Hackett-Fairchild getting the goals for the Imps.

Shrewsbury beat Reading 3-2 last time out, also on Saturday, with Jordan Shipley, Tom Bayliss and Tom Bloxham on the scoresheet.
