Struggling Cheltenham Town face Port Vale at the Completely-Suzuki Stadium on Saturday looking to build on a win in their last league outing.

After securing all three points with a 2-0 victory over Blackpool on Tuesday, the Robins sit 22nd in League One.

They travel to play a Vale side 21st in the standings, who were held in their last match, 2-2 against Stevenage, on February 10.

Cheltenham are in mixed form in League One, with three wins and three losses from their last six games.

With no wins and two draws over that period, Vale’s form is much worse – they have taken two points from 18, compared to Town’s nine.

In the last 10 years, Cheltenham and Vale have played each other on 12 occasions. Cheltenham won four of them, Vale three, and they drew five times.

On average, the Robins scored 1.6 goals and the Valiants 1.4 in those matches.

Their last meeting was on October 28, when Cheltenham won 2-1 away.

With 24 goals in 30 games so far this season, the Robins are the league’s second-lowest scorers with 0.8 goals per game. And they are conceding at an average rate, letting in 40 goals at a rate of 1.3 per game.

The Valiants are also below average scorers, with 1.0 goal per game, compared to a league average of 1.3. They have conceded 1.6 goals per game.

The away side’s Ethan Chislett is among the league’s most creative players, racking up seven assists in 26 appearances so far this season, and holding fourth spot in League One’s assist charts.

For the hosts, Sean Long, Liam Sercombe, Robert Street and George Lloyd have set up the most goals, having laid on two assists apiece to date.
