Unbeaten Town give Notts derby lesson

Delighted Mansfield Town first team coach Andy Garner hailed his side as ‘outstanding’ after they stormed to a 4-1 derby victory at Notts County.

The unbeaten Stags fell behind early on in front of a crowd of over 16,000, but levelled before the break and then stepped up a gear with three goals in an 11-minute purple patch in the second half.

Garner, whose side lie third in League Two, said: “It took about ten minutes for us to sort ourselves out and realise what we wanted to do (after going behind), and after that I thought we were outstanding.”

Notts boss Luke Williams, whose side lost top spot to Stockport, admitted: “We played the best team since I have been at this club.”
