Blame us for Dawes exit – Tom

Tranmere captain Tom Davies has admitted that the players at Prenton Park haven’t been good enough following the dismissal of manager Ian Dawes.
Dawes – who was only appointed in May after an interim spell in charge – was sacked following last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Colchester. It was Tranmere’s sixth successive loss in all competitions and left them 22nd in League Two with three points from seven games.
“You have empathy when someone loses their job,” said Davies. “We saw day to day how hard Ian worked, and it didn’t work out unfortunately.
