MANAGER Lee Johnson believes goalkeeper Anthony Patterson has the capability to eventually become Sunderland’s number one.
The Black Cats have recalled Patterson from his loan at Notts County following an injury to Lee Burge.
Burge, 28, is suffering with a hip problem and Johnson moved quickly to ensure they don’t become stretched between the sticks.
He said: “Lee has a hip flexor problem. He had it at the start of the season as well. We wouldn’t expect him to be out for too long. It’s probably a seven to ten day injury.
