I DON’T think anybody was surprised by the three players who made the shortlist for Championship player of the year.
Winner Emi Buendia, Teemu Pukki, both Norwich, and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are all Premier League players operating below their natural level.
Toney has had an
incredible season. You score 30 goals in the Championship, you’re a Premier League player.
Pukki has proved it before. And Buendia, right, is just a fantastic
footballer who I was amazed didn’t stay in the top flight when Norwich were relegated.
