GILLINGHAM boss Steve Evans has revealed his players are helping to ease the club’s financial burden – by driving themselves to some matches.
Clubs have been hit hard by the financial impact of Covid-19 and the Gills squad opted against the use of a coach for wins over Swindon and Charlton.
“We have tried to play our part,” said Evans, 58. “Our supporters appreciate the type of efforts that the players have deployed.
“There’s not a day I don’t remind our players that the people who pay our wages are our supporters. ”
