THE spat between Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Spurs in midweek perfectly illustrates why football will always cause disagreement.
“The better team lost,” Mourinho told Klopp at full-time. Klopp grinned, looked incredulous, then strolled away shaking his head. “I thought he was joking,” said the German.
It’s not hard to see why. Liverpool had 76 per cent of possession, won more corners, took more shots and - ultimately - scored more goals. Statistically, they were the better side.
