Supersub Scrimshaw serves up a cracker

JOHN Askey raged at centre-backs Leon Legge and Nathan Smith after his Port Vale side conceded four second-half goals at Walsall.
Vale led 2-0 and 3-2 through Tom Pope, Tom Conlon’s 25-yard free-kick and Devante Rodney, but Jake Scrimshaw’s brace and Dan Scarr’s double won it for the Saddlers.
The visitors’ only clean sheet in their past 14 games in all competitions came against struggling Southend, leaving Askey furious with central defensive duo Legge and Smith.
“We can’t defend. It’s as simple as that,” he said.
