THERE was no dream start to management for Wayne Rooney as his Derby County basement dwellers were beaten at Bristol City.
Famara Diedhiou notched the only goal as Rooney, who played the full 90 minutes, and his three fellow interim bosses began with a defeat.
It was the same story for new Sheffield Wednesday boss Tony Pulis. The Owls’ Josh Windass was sent off for a high challenge early on and Tom Barkhuizen went on to net Preston’s winner.
Norwich went top with a 1-0 win at Middlesbrough.
