WHY THE NUMBERS DON’T ADD UP FOR THE OWLS

HOPE springs eternal in football, even when cold, hard statistics are hell-bent on damming the flow.
Unfortunately, the numbers generally win.
And that is depressing news for supporters of Sheffield Wednesday.
Deducted 12 points at the beginning of the season for an alleged breach of Financial Fair Play regulations, successive defeats to Brentford, Luton Town and Rotherham United left the Owls marooned on -4.
Best-case scenario - not allowing for yesterday’s results - is that a return to positive equity will be achieved after ten games.
An optimist would say there are plenty of matche...
