READING fans were surprised when Mark Bowen was appointed as the club’s new manager – and so was he!
The Royals were in the market for a new boss following Jose Gomes’ sacking ten days ago, but most people expected them to look outside for a replacement.
However, Bowen, who had been Reading’s sporting director, was handed the reins last Monday.
“I was stunned to be offered the job as I had started the recruitment myself,” the 55-year-old told BBC Radio Berkshire.
