SHAKERS AIM FOR NATIONAL LEAGUE

BURY fans are hoping the club will be allowed to restart in the higher echelons of Non-League football next season – after seeing the door slammed shut on them by the Football League.
The Shakers were expelled from the EFL last month after a takeover fell through, but the Bury FC Rescue Board put forward a proposal for the club to be admitted to League Two under new ownership next season. However, at a quarterly meeting of EFL clubs on Thursday, the plan didn’t receive the backing necessary.
