There is simply too much talent in an attacking unit that always looked a cut above anything Middlesbrough had to offer. How the home side could have done with a player of Bradley Dack’s invention, Danny Graham’s cunning or Sam Gallagher’s energy.
Promising attacking football is all very well, and Jonathan Woodgate’s commitment to the cause should not be knocked.
But are the players at his disposal good enough to implement it?...
