BLUES TO STAND BY MAIKEL AFTER HIS KNEE KO

BIRMINGHAM City have offered Maikel Kieftenbeld all the support he needs as he undergoes surgery to repair a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The 28-year-old midfielder could be out of action for up to nine months with the injury he sustained in last weekend’s win over Leeds.
Blues want to activate the year option in the Dutchman’s contract as “a sign of faith and show of support”, with his current deal expiring next summer.
