COLIN GREENALL admits that Blackpool had a special incentive to win promotion from the basement division – the club changed the bonus structure!
Blackpool had spent almost their entire life in the Football League playing in either Division One or Two until they were relegated to the Third Division for the first time in 1978.
They even had to apply for re-election for the first time in 1983 after being docked two points for playing an ineligible player in John Butler.
But the fightback began the following season and they looked odds-on for prom...
