ALEX Neil cannot help thinking what might have been for Preston had they not endured a nightmare season with injuries.
Callum Robinson, Sean Maguire, Billy Bodin and Louis Moult are just four key players who have endured lengthy absences over the course of the campaign, with Brandon Barker the latest to succumb to injury.
The Lilywhites’ play-off push was dented by defeat at Reading last weekend and they sat three points adrift of sixth-placed Aston Villa going into yesterday’s home game against high-flying Sheffield United.
