NICK Powell made his long-awaited return to action in midweek and Wigan boss Paul Cook believes the forward will be “invaluable” in the coming weeks.
Powell, 24, has been out of action for three months with hamstring and calf problems, but came off the bench after 73 minutes of the goalless draw with Stoke.
His return is a major plus for Latics, and Cook said: “Any team in the division, to have a player like Nick Powell out for 11 weeks, would suffer.
