SOUTHEND have been dealt a blow with the news that winger Sam Barratt faces a lengthy absence with a knee injury. Summer signing Barratt, 22, made his first appearance for the club as a second-half substitute in the opening League One clash with Doncaster. Boss Chris Powell said: “Sam’s got a knee injury which will be long-term so it’s a real disappointment.”
