EX-BOSS IN LEGAL BATTLE OVER HIS EXIT

FORMER Southend boss Phil Brown has accused Shrimpers chairman Ron Mar tin of ille g ally withholding compensation following his departure from Roots Hall.
Brown was dismissed in January after a run of seven defeats in eight matches had left the Essex side 18th in League One.
A club statement said the former Hull City and Preston manager had been placed on gardening leave – meaning he would be paid monthly for the remaining five months of his contract as long as he remained unemployed.
