RAY CLOSE TO CREWE COMEBACK

LONG-TERM Crewe injury absentee George Ray has stepped up his rehab programme and could make a first-team return in January.
The 24-year-old centrehalf, capped for Wales at Under-21 level, has not featured for the Railwaymen since fracturing his back on Easter Monday, but Crewe manager David Artell says the club will remain cautious.
“He is now running normally again and I would say he is targeting late January for a possible return,” said Artell.
“Saying that, he has been out for a long time now and we have to be careful with him.”
