IT was a long time coming but George Maris hopes his first goal of the season will help him secure a regular starting spot at Cambridge.
The 21-year-old midfielder finally got off the mark as Shaun Derry’s side beat Yeovil 2-1 in midweek.
“It’s been a long time coming”, Maris said. “I thought I would score a lot earlier but it’s nice to get on the scoresheet.
“It was disappointing not to play (against Lincoln last weekend) but the gaffer has hard decisions to make every week so you’ve just got to take that as it comes.”
