BLACKBURN Rovers came into the new campaign as favourites for the League One title. But an opening day defeat at Southend United showed Tony Mowbray’s side that nothing can be taken for granted at this level.
Their talent must be matched by a tenacious attitude if a top-two finish is to be secured.
Southend’s star names showed them how it’s done as Michael Kightly’s creative qualities were matched by his work rate.
On this showing, Southend are likely to again be pushing for the top six this season.
